The former athlete's family alerted police after he failed to return home on Saturday evening following a gathering with friends. His car was later discovered submerged in the river, but Voyce was not inside. Investigators suspect he attempted to cross the Aberwick Ford river when his vehicle was overtaken by rising waters.
Efforts to locate Voyce have included North of Tyne Mountain Rescue volunteers, Northumbria Police’s marine unit, the National Police Air Service, drones, and search dogs. Friends and family of the former rugby star have also joined the search.
Storm Daragh has caused widespread devastation across the UK, with two fatalities from falling trees, over 100,000 homes left without power, significant railway disruptions, and numerous flight cancellations.
