Ex-Scotland rugby player Stuart Hogg banned from contacting wife after domestic abuse allegations
Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has been involved in a major scandal, according to The Sun. The athlete was previously accused of domestic abuse against his wife, Gillian. He was released on bail with a restriction not to contact her or enter their family home.
Hogg violated this restriction, attempting to contact Gillian multiple times in June this year. As a result, he has been sentenced to a five-year ban on stalking his wife. He was also fined £600, with an additional £40 fee paid to the victim.
The Scottish rugby player was accused of ongoing domestic abuse from 2019 to 2024. He allegedly yelled at and verbally abused his wife, tracked her movements through a special app, and sent disturbing messages.
In 2023, Gillian decided to separate from her husband and sought assistance from domestic violence support services. The couple is currently in the process of divorcing.
Stuart Hogg now plays for French club Montpellier.
