Former Reds Star Expresses Surprise Over Salah's Pending Contract Situation
Ryan Babel, former Liverpool winger, believes the club's owners are to blame if Mohamed Salah doesn’t renew his contract, which expires next summer. From January, Salah can negotiate with other clubs, raising concerns among fans.
Babel said in remarks cited by Liverpool Echo, "Liverpool bases contract evaluations on player longevity and economic worth. It’s surprising to hear Salah hasn’t received an offer yet."
Babel noted, "Fans want Salah to stay, but the situation seems more about ownership decisions than Salah’s stance. Even Jürgen Klopp reportedly had disagreements with the owners at one point."
He concluded, "If anyone is responsible for this uncertainty, it’s likely the club’s owners. I’m sure Arne Slot wants Salah to remain at Liverpool."
Salah’s future remains a key topic, with fans hoping the Egyptian star will continue his illustrious journey at Anfield.
