Former Orlando Pirates player Daine Klate: This season may see Orlando Pirates pip Mamelodi Sundowns to the Betway Premierhsip title
Daine Klate finally sees his former club Orlando Pirates winning this season’s Betway Premiership title ahead of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Klate said Pirates have done well this season to be in a good position to clinch the elusive PSL trophy.
Presently, the Sea Robbers, are atop of the standings with 28 points, three more than second placed Sundowns.
Kalte, a former SuperSport United and Pirates midfielder, won the treble before with Pirates and he sees his former team annexing the trophy like his generation did.
“They find themselves in a very good position. I think this could be the season that Pirates finally pip Sundowns for the league title," Klate told the Soccerladuma website.
The recently fired Durban City DDC coach said Pirates’ ability to keep pace with Sundowns is what makes them strong candidates to wrestle Sundowns the title.
“Look, I've been saying, winning cups is one thing, the ultimate, the bread and butter is obviously the league title. I think I'm very happy with how Pirates have stayed close to Sundowns in the last couple of seasons, and that was the most important thing, just to stay close with Sundowns," Klate said.
