Former Orlando Pirates cup-winning coach Jose Riveiro joins Swedish side AIK Stockholm

Jose Riveiro has joined Swedish giants AIK Stockholm.

Riveiro has been club-less since leaving Egyptian powerhouse club AL-Ahly earlier this season.

The Spanish-born Riveiro left Betway Premiership side Orlando Pirates having impressed the club managemet as he had won trophies with the Sea Robbers.

It was not a surprise Al-Ahly sought his signature but the coach did not last long as he was sacked just after two games in charge of the North African side.

But the reserved gaffer finally made the move to the Scandinavian side following a turbulent stay in North Africa.

“I am very proud and happy to be part of a club that truly lives and breathes football,” Riveiro told the club’s media department.

“AIK is a club with a strong identity, high ambitions and an enormous passion around the team.

“Now I am really looking forward to getting started, building relationships and working closely with the players and my colleagues to develop the team every day and take the next step both individually and collectively.”
