Former Manchester United and Liverpool youth player charged with attempted murder

Details: According to The Mirror, 32-year-old former English footballer and boxer Paddy Lacey is among the suspects involved in a shooting of a young man on the streets of Liverpool.
It is reported that a 20-year-old man was shot on a driveway in Huyton, Liverpool, and was subsequently rushed to intensive care in critical condition.

Police quickly identified several suspects, including Paddy Lacey, a product of the youth academies at Manchester United and Liverpool. During a search of Lacey's home, authorities discovered a shotgun and other weapons, placing him at the center of this grim case.
At present, investigators are conducting all possible checks into the incident, and all four suspects, including Paddy Lacey, are expected to appear in court soon.
Paddy Lacey began his footballing journey at Liverpool's academy before moving to Manchester United's youth teams, though he never made it into the first team. After his youth career, Lacey managed to break into professional football, playing for Sheffield United, Bradford, Southport, Barrow, Accrington, Chester, and Flint Town.
In the summer of 2024, Lacey announced his retirement from football at the age of 30 and turned his focus to boxing.
