At 94 years old, Ecclestone revealed that he intends to part with the collection to spare his third wife, Fabiana, from having to decide what to do with the cars after his passing. Fabiana, who is half his age, is currently 48.
"I'm 94, and if I'm lucky, I might have a few more years left—who knows? But I didn't want to leave Fabiana with the burden of figuring out what to do with them when I'm gone," Ecclestone said.
The collection is considered one of the most valuable in the world and includes iconic racing cars that Ecclestone began acquiring in the early 1970s. Notable pieces include a Ferrari driven by Michael Schumacher to secure the championship title in 2002.
The cars will be available for private buyers rather than being auctioned. All transactions will be handled by Tom Hartley Jnr Ltd, a leading global dealer of historic racing cars.
