Former England and Manchester City player Joey Barton arrested after violent brawl at golf club

Details: According to the Daily Mail, at around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, former central midfielder for Manchester City, Newcastle, QPR, Marseille, and Burnley, Joey Barton, was arrested by police following a fight at a golf club.

The incident reportedly took place at Huyton & Prescot in Merseyside. Passersby witnessed the altercation and called the police to report the fight. Merseyside police quickly arrived at the scene and detained two men, aged 50 and 43. One of those arrested turned out to be the former central midfielder Joey Barton.
It is also reported that a weapon was found at the scene, which allegedly belonged to Barton, possibly indicating self-defense by the former England international.
Barton is currently in custody as the investigation examines all details of the incident before delivering a verdict.
Joey Barton announced his retirement in 2017, with Burnley being his last club.
