Ex-Chelsea and French national team footballer Florent Malouda traveled to French Guiana to join his country's military personnel. The Frenchman donned military attire to participate in the CEFE Authority course of the 3rd REI at the Equatorial Forest Training Center. He shared his experience on Instagram.

Malouda joined the soldiers of the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment's civilian reserve, taking part in training exercises at the center. He posted photos in military gear navigating various training obstacles in the heart of the tropical Amazon jungle.

Born in French Guiana, Malouda moved to mainland France during his teenage years but has maintained a strong connection with his birthplace. His visit allowed him to reconnect with his roots.

In 2017, Malouda played four matches for the French Guiana national team. Since the territory is part of France and not an independent nation, this allowed him to represent both France and French Guiana during his career.

Malouda retired in 2018 after finishing his football career with Luxembourg club Differdange 03.
