New Schalke goalkeeper Loris Karius will be settling into his new home without his family’s support, reports Bild. His wife, Diletta Leotta, a prominent host on the Italian channel DAZN, has chosen not to join him in Gelsenkirchen.
Karius recently signed with Schalke and moved to begin his new chapter. However, Leotta will remain in Milan, continuing her television career. Their daughter, Aria, born in August 2023, will also stay with her mother in Italy. This leaves the German goalkeeper to manage his life in Germany on his own.
Despite the separation, Karius remains optimistic, believing the distance will not strain his relationship with his wife.
“I explained it to her. She wants the best for me professionally and fully supports my move. You can find ways to make it work. She’s busy too, and we’ll both take turns traveling back and forth,” Karius shared.
Karius and Leotta have been together since 2022, having met in Paris. The couple tied the knot in June 2024 on the Italian island of Vulcano.
Karius had been without a club for six months before signing with Schalke, following a stint with Newcastle United in England.
