Former Black Stars coach Otto Addo takes the GFA to FIFA over contract termination
The case surrounding Otto Addo’s departure as head coach of the Black Stars is taking a legal turn. The former Ghana manager is reported to have taken the matter to FIFA to challenge the termination of his contract by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), which took place in March 2026.
The Ghanaian manager was sacked two months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This decision followed a run of four consecutive defeats suffered by the Black Stars during the March international break.
Several months after his departure, Ghana’s former manager, Otto Addo, is now reportedly claiming more than $750,000 in compensation. He maintains that his contract was terminated unilaterally and is contesting the circumstances under which the GFA ended their working relationship.
After several unsuccessful attempts to secure payment of this sum from the GFA, the former manager has reportedly decided to take the matter to FIFA. World football’s governing body is now set to examine this dispute between the manager and the Ghana Football Association.
