Former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena tells Rrelebohile Mofokeng talent won't be enough for him to succeed in Belgiun

Former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena has shared some invaluable advice with South Africa's rising star Relebohile Mofokeng.

Mofokeng, who just joined Belgian side St Gilloise, according to Mokoena, should not rely on his talent alone to succeed in Europe.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder must work harder to carve a great career there, Mokoena said.

“The first thing he must understand is that he’s a foreigner,” said Mokoena talking to iDiski Times.

“He’s going to have to be 10 times better than the local players. They accept foreign players who are exceptional. They accept foreign players who work hard.

“They accept foreign players who deliver. Average simply won’t do. It’s not enough just to be talented. You’ve got to show them every single week.”

Mokoena also played for Gent in Belgium in a career which saw him ply his trade in Europe for more than a decade with stints in Holland and England later.
