For the first time in history. The WNBA playoffs have crowned a champion
On the night of Sunday to Monday, October 21, the decisive Game 5 of the WNBA Finals took place between the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx, revealing a new champion.
Minnesota started strong, taking the first quarter 19-10. However, the next two quarters swung in New York's favor, 17-15 and 20-10. The Lynx rallied in the final quarter, winning 16-13 to force the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Liberty held firm, outscoring Minnesota 7-2 and securing a 67-62 victory. With this win, New York claimed their first WNBA title in franchise history, having previously lost in five finals.
Reminder: In recent hours in Spain, a mini-controversy has erupted on social media due to a gesture by Dario Brizuela towards Yasmina Alcaraz, one of the three referees of the match won against Tenerife.
