Today, the IOC headquarters hosted the election of the organization's new president, where a historic decision was made.

Details: For the first time, the IOC is led by a woman – Kirsty Coventry.

In the voting, Coventry surpassed Japan's Morinari Watanabe.

Coventry will assume her duties on June 23 of this year, when the resignation of the previous IOC president, Thomas Bach, takes effect.

For the last 5 years, Coventry served as Zimbabwe's Minister of Sports. Prior to that, she was a professional swimmer. She is an 8-time Olympic medalist: 2 gold medals, 4 silver, and 2 bronze.

Reminder: Today, the IOC officially reinstated boxing in the 2028 Olympics program.
