Football stars Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis announce they are expecting a child

Chelsea forward Sam Kerr and West Ham midfielder Kristie Mewis have announced that they will become parents in 2025. The joyful news was shared on Kerr’s Instagram account, with Mewis set to carry the baby.

The couple began dating in 2020, and their relationship became public after the Tokyo Olympics. In November 2023, they revealed to People magazine that they were engaged.

Australian star Kerr has been with Chelsea Women since 2019. During her time with the club, she has won the Women's Super League five times and played in the 2020/21 UEFA Women's Champions League final. On the international stage, she has made 128 appearances for Australia, scoring 69 goals. In recognition of her achievements, a football center named after her was opened in Australia in 2023.

However, Kerr has also faced legal troubles. In 2023, a criminal case was opened against her in the UK, accusing her of harassing a police officer with allegations of racial abuse. The Australian forward has denied the charges, and the trial is scheduled for February 2025.

Kristie Mewis, who plays for the US Women’s National Team, has earned 53 caps for her country. She joined West Ham at the end of 2023 and was part of the bronze medal-winning squad at the Tokyo Olympics.
