Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri commented on Paul Pogba's four-year ban from football due to doping.

The grim saga of Pogba began in August last year when elevated testosterone levels were detected in the Frenchman's blood after a match against Udinese. Subsequent tests confirmed the use of a banned substance by the footballer.

"I wrote him a message two days ago. On a human level I'm very sorry, but also from a footballing point of view. This sport is losing an extraordinary and difficult to find player who I had the pleasure of coaching. On top of that, Paul is also a very good person." Allegri said.

Pogba himself disagrees with such a harsh punishment from the National Anti-Doping Tribunal.

It's worth noting that Juventus has the option to terminate the player's contract unilaterally. However, the leadership of the Old Lady will not rush into such measures and will wait at least until summer.

Pogba returned to Juventus from Manchester United in the summer of 2022 but only played 12 matches for the Bianconeri last season.
