Football for peace. Infantino to present the inaugural Peace Prize at the 2026 World Cup draw
The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has announced the creation of the FIFA Peace Prize—an award that will honor outstanding contributions to promoting peace and unity through sport.
Details: According to the organization's press service, the first presentation will take place on December 5 during the draw for the 2026 World Cup. FIFA President Gianni Infantino will personally present the award to its inaugural recipient.
“In an increasingly unstable and divided world, it is vital to recognize those who strive to end conflict and bring people together. Football stands for peace, and the FIFA Peace Prize—'Football Unites the World'—will acknowledge the tremendous efforts of those who inspire hope for future generations,” Infantino stated.
The prize will become an annual tradition, recognizing individuals whose dedication and actions help strengthen peace and mutual understanding among nations through football.
