Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson was among a group of investors who purchased the horse Caldwell Potter last year for a staggering £630,000—a record-breaking sum at the time. However, the horse has yet to live up to expectations, according to The Sun.

Caldwell Potter has failed to secure any significant victories, leading some to label the investment a waste of money. The criticism has grown loud enough that the horse’s trainer, Paul Nicholls, has come to its defense.

"Immediately on Twitter people say 'What a heap of s***', but people have no idea. He's a very nice horse. He's not easy to train, we had issues in the spring which is why I couldn't run him and I still have issues with him all the time with his feet, so that's not easy.," Nicholls explained.

Reportedly, Alex Ferguson was captivated by Caldwell Potter and keen to secure the horse, though the asking price nearly made him faint.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Sir Alex’s hefty and risky investment will eventually pay off.
