Today at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the women's 3000-meter final witnessed another Olympic record.

The race was won by Winfred Yavi of Bahrain, originally from Kenya but now representing the Asian country. Yavi completed the distance in 8:52.76, setting a new Olympic record.

Tokyo 2020 champion Peruth Chemutai of Uganda finished second, and the bronze medal went to Kenyan athlete Faith Cherotich.

This medal marks the first for Bahrain at the current Olympics.

It is noteworthy that an Olympic record was also set today in the men's 1500-meter race.
