Real Madrid travelled away to face Albacete, a LaLiga 2 representative, in the Round of 16 of the Spanish Copa del Rey.
In the first half, the teams exchanged goals, with Albacete taking the lead first before the Madrid side managed to respond.
Late in the match, the teams traded goals once again. The hosts went ahead, Real equalised again, but that was not the end. In the 90+4th minute, Albacete struck once more to snatch a dramatic 3–2 victory.
The side sitting 17th in the Segunda managed to eliminate Real Madrid from the Copa del Rey at the Round of 16 stage. A sensational result for new Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa, for whom this match was his first in charge of the Royal Club.
