First in 27 years: Girona defender Ladislav Krejci matches an intriguing feat in Spanish football
Girona is currently facing Barcelona in the 29th round of the Spanish La Liga.
The first half was dominated by Flick's team, but they couldn't find the back of the net. Instead, Girona's defender Ladislav Krejci did.
The Czech defender turned the ball into his own net after a cross from Lamine Yamal, thus matching an intriguing feat. Previously, he had scored own goals in Champions League matches against Feyenoord and PSV.
Krejci has become only the third player to score three own goals in his debut season for a Spanish club. Previously, this was achieved by Fernando Niño in the 1997/98 season and Eduardo Gerolami (1975/76).
Interestingly, the 25-year-old Czech has also managed to score twice against opponents since joining from Sparta Prague for 8 million euros in 2024.
