City Starlet Echeverri Poised for Girona Loan After Preseason

Claudio Echeverri, the talented Argentine midfielder recently signed by Manchester City, is expected to join Girona on loan following the club's preseason. According to Marca, the 19-year-old, known as “El Diablito,” will spend the upcoming season gaining European experience under Girona coach Míchel.

Echeverri joined City from River Plate during the winter window and is currently in a transition phase. His anticipated move to Girona follows the pathway of fellow City Group player Savinho, who impressed in LaLiga before moving to the Premier League.

Despite these plans, the loan deal could be complicated by UEFA regulations. With both Girona and City potentially qualifying for the Champions League, new restrictions may prohibit player movement between related clubs until January 2026. This could delay Echeverri’s Girona debut.

Meanwhile, Lazio has also expressed interest in securing the youngster on loan. Reports from Italy suggest initial talks have taken place, and the player was even spotted near Lazio’s training ground in Rome. Whether he lands in Girona or elsewhere, Echeverri’s European adventure is set to begin soon.
