Mamelodi Sundowns put up a valiant fight against Borussia Dortmund in the Club World Cup clash, narrowly losing 3-4. One of the goals for the South African side was netted by Lebo Mothiba.
This goal marked the first for the 29-year-old striker in a Sundowns shirt since his move from French side Strasbourg, where he completed his contract as a free agent. The forward suffered a serious knee injury at the end of 2023, sidelining him for almost a year and a half.
Mothiba struck in just his third appearance for Sundowns—previously, he came off the bench against Pyramids and Ulsan Hyundai. Interestingly, according to Transfermarkt, the player's contract expires on June 30, and his current market value is 1 million euros.
