First finalist of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League confirmed
On Tuesday, May 5, the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid determined the first finalist.
Details: The first meeting between the sides ended in a 1:1 draw, with both teams converting their penalties. A week later, everything was decided by a single goal.
In the 45th minute, Bukayo Saka pounced on the rebound to slot the ball into Atletico’s net after the goalkeeper had parried his initial effort. Atletico were unable to respond and failed to salvage the tie.
As a result, Arsenal overcame Atletico 2:1 on aggregate to become the first finalists of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
This is Arsenal’s first final in 20 years. The last time they played in a final was in 2006.
The other finalist will be decided in the tie between Bayern Munich and PSG. The second leg will take place on Wednesday, May 6. The first encounter ended 5:4 in favour of the Parisians.
