Today, after defeating van de Zandschulp, Novak Djokovic became the absolute record holder for wins at the majors.
Details: In the third round of the Australian Open, Djokovic faced off against Botic van de Zandschulp, beating him with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. With this triumph, the Serbian tennis ace became the first player in history to notch 400 wins at the sport’s biggest tournaments.
Djokovic now leads Roger Federer by 31 wins in this category, and Rafael Nadal by 86. The Serbian also equaled Federer’s record by claiming his 102nd match win at the Australian Open.
Djokovic could become the sole record holder at the Australian Open as early as tomorrow, should he defeat the winner of the Mensik vs. Quinn match.
