FIFA owes everyone! More than 50 clubs demand their money from the Club World Cup

Gianni Infantino is racking up financial scandals one after another.

Details: More than 50 clubs have reached out to the European Club Association regarding money that FIFA still owes them following last year's Club World Cup. Clubs that did not participate in the tournament were promised a share of profits from the solidarity fund—each top-flight club was supposed to receive around £50,000, but the payments have yet to materialize.

We're talking about a $250 million solidarity fund that FIFA announced ahead of the tournament’s kickoff in the summer of 2025 as “unprecedented support for club football worldwide.” More than a year has passed, but the formula for distributing the money still hasn’t been agreed upon, and clubs across the globe are openly expressing their frustration with the endless wait. The situation is especially awkward considering the organization handed out a record $1 billion prize pool to tournament participants.

This is already FIFA’s second financial scandal in a week. Earlier, 11 U.S. host cities of the World Cup demanded their promised millions from the organization, which also remain unpaid.
