Arsène Wenger has proposed an update to the offside rule, and it appears FIFA are ready to take the step and implement it.

Details: According to RMC Sport, the organisation has backed the new rule proposed by Wenger. A player would only be considered offside if he is completely beyond the last defender, meaning decisions would no longer be made based on the position of individual body parts.

Moreover, the rule could be introduced in the near future and come into use as early as next season.

A FIFA meeting was recently held at which the final investment budget for the 2026 FIFA World Cup was approved. Following calculations and voting, it was decided to allocate a total of 727 million dollars, an impressive 50% increase compared to the amount allocated for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Reminder: The Swiss Federal Supreme Court has found former FIFA secretary general Jérôme Valcke and Greek businessman Dinos Deris guilty of corruption.
