Argentina defender Nicolás Otamendi will be eligible to play in the team's opening World Cup match against Algeria.

Details: FIFA has officially lifted the disciplinary sanction that was imposed on the player after he received a red card in the final round of qualification. The international federation explained that this decision was made so that national teams can field their strongest lineups, maintaining quality, fairness, and the spirit of competition.

Alongside the Argentinians, Ecuador midfielder Moisés Caicedo has also been granted amnesty. The midfielder, who was sent off for two yellow cards in the match against Argentina, has likewise been cleared to play in his nation's opening World Cup fixtures.

Despite the lifting of suspensions, FIFA emphasized that such measures are solely aimed at maintaining a high level of competition and do not undermine the disciplinary integrity of the process.

It should be noted that Argentina will play Algeria in their World Cup opener, while Ecuador will face Ivory Coast.

Reminder: Argentina winger Lionel Messi answered a question about whether he wants to see Neymar at the World Cup.
