On March 17th, Barcelona traveled to face Atlético in the 29th round of the Spanish La Liga. The central match of the weekend took place in Madrid at the Metropolitano stadium.

The first half was marked by a fairly intense battle but with few goal-scoring opportunities. In the 38th minute, the visitors took the lead through João Félix, who once again found the net against the team he is contracted to. Immediately after, Morata had a chance to equalize, but his shot went just above the crossbar. Interestingly, towards the end of the half, the referee sent off Barcelona's coach Xavi, showing him a red card. This was Xavi's second dismissal as a coach, having also seen the red card twice during his playing career.

In the early stages of the second half, the visitors doubled their advantage as Robert Lewandowski sent the ball into the net off the post - 0:2. Fermin Lopez extended the lead, and Atlético failed to even score a consolation goal.

Atlético Madrid 0 - 3 Barcelona
Goals: João Félix 38, Lewandowski 47, Fermin Lopez 65.
Sent off: Molina 90+3 (Atlético).

After this match, Barcelona moved up to the second position in the league table, overtaking neighboring Girona. Diego Simeone's side, meanwhile, dropped out of the UEFA Champions League qualification zone and currently sits in fifth place, trailing Athletic Bilbao by just one point.
