Brentford player Yoane Wissa opened up about the terrifying episode in which he was doused with acid during an attempted kidnapping of his child, The Sun reports. The incident has left him living in constant fear.

The attack occurred in France in 2021, just days before Wissa’s transfer from Lorient to Brentford. The woman who attempted to kidnap his child is now facing trial and could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

"I opened a door, and had liquid thrown in my face. I screamed and could not breathe. My wife called the emergency services, and they told me to get under the shower to rinse my eyes. At the hospital they told me my eyes were burned. It has been a nightmare. Since then I panic every time I hear a noise, and the only thing that kept me going was knowing my children are safe," Wissa shared.

Following the attack, Wissa underwent eye surgery and spent six months recovering his vision. Doctors noted that if emergency measures hadn’t been taken promptly, the consequences could have been far worse.
