If strict sanctions are imposed, the Senegal national team could miss several matches.
Details: According to DiarioAS, Senegal may face severe penalties following their conduct in the AFCON final, when head coach Pape Thiaw led his team off the pitch after the referee awarded a penalty against them in the final minutes of the match.
Under CAF and FIFA regulations, serious breaches of discipline during matches can result in hefty fines as well as lengthy suspensions ranging from 4 to 6 games.

If CAF decides to hand down a harsh punishment, a suspension of four or more matches could carry over to the 2026 World Cup. Should this happen, Senegal would be forced to field a reserve squad at the tournament, made up of players who did not feature in the AFCON final. However, a final decision regarding Senegal's disqualification has yet to be made.
Senegal have been drawn in Group I at the World Cup, alongside France, Norway, and another team to be determined through the qualification playoffs.
