Michael Carrick has etched his name into Premier League history. The Manchester United head coach has collected 23 points in his first nine matches at the helm (7 wins, 2 draws — spanning both of his spells in charge).
Remarkably, this is the best tally after nine games by any manager in Premier League history — a feat previously achieved only by Ange Postecoglou with Tottenham.
Let’s recall, Carrick first took charge of the team in November 2021 following Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s departure. As interim boss, he managed three matches: defeating Villarreal (2-0) in the Champions League, overcoming Arsenal (3-2) in the Premier League, and drawing with Chelsea (1-1). After Ralf Rangnick’s appointment, Carrick left the coaching staff.
In his second spell, Carrick once again took the reins during a tough period and managed to quickly steady the ship. Under his guidance, Manchester United have not only been picking up points consistently (6 wins and 1 draw), but have also shown real character in challenging fixtures, climbing up to third place in the table.
