Lionel Messi produced another night in Miami that will be replayed for a long time.

Details: Inter Miami demolished CF Montreal 7-1 in the MLS regular season, with the 39-year-old Argentine delivering an extraordinary four-goal performance and adding an assist. Messi restored Miami's lead with a direct free kick in the 40th minute before dancing through the Montreal defense to score his second shortly after the break.

Luis Suárez made it 4-1 in the 80th minute after a precise Messi assist, but Leo was nowhere near finished. Three minutes later he completed his hat-trick, and in the sixth minute of stoppage time the Inter Miami captain struck directly from another free kick to complete his poker and seal a spectacular 7-1 victory.

The official reports from both MLS and Inter Miami currently credit all four goals to Messi. His fourth strike therefore remains on the Argentine's record, while the performance became his first four-goal game in Major League Soccer. The result was also Inter Miami's biggest winning margin in club history.

It is worth noting that Messi finished the evening with four goals and one assist. He now has 18 goals and 10 assists in the 2026 MLS regular season and moved into first place in the Golden Boot race.

Reminder: A new boss for Messi! Inter Miami find a replacement in the dugout
