Atletico Madrid's head coach, Diego Simeone, commented on the victory of "Los Rojiblancos" and the team's qualification to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

According to the Argentine coach, the supporters play a crucial role in Atletico's home matches. Simeone is thrilled with the fans of the Madrid team.

"I am very excited about our fans - the reception they gave us today when we arrived at the stadium and at the beginning of the match was very emotional. We came to this after a disappointing game against Cadiz, and honestly, I tried to convey to my players that now is not the time to ask (the fans) but to give," said Simeone.

He added that the whole world saw the role their fans played, and it greatly helped Atletico Madrid against an incredible opponent. Additionally, Simeone praised the players and emphasized that it was not an easy task at all.

"Koke gave everything, and Griezmann kept running until he couldn't run anymore. Memphis Depay came on and appeared when he was really needed. This is what we need. Making it to the last eight may seem like an easy task, but it's not," added Atletico Madrid's head coach.

As a reminder, the regular time of the Round of 16 second-leg match between Atletico Madrid and Inter ended with a score of 2-1. The teams played two extra periods of 15 minutes each but failed to determine a winner, leading to a penalty shootout. "Los Rojiblancos" capitalized better on their attempts during the penalty shootout, and their goalkeeper Jan Oblak saved two shots from "Nerazzurri." Atletico won with a score of 3-1 in penalties and advanced to the quarter-finals.
