The Ducati Lenovo Team has confirmed fans’ worst fears: Marc Márquez is already in Madrid, where today he will undergo a double surgical procedure.

Details: According to Diario AS, the reason is an incident during yesterday’s sprint at the French Grand Prix, which left the Spaniard with a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Davide Tardozzi, the team manager, emphasized that the rider’s health is the absolute priority, and the club fully supports the decision to proceed with immediate surgery.

The surgery will be comprehensive: alongside treating the fresh foot fracture, doctors will also operate on Márquez’s right shoulder. This procedure, aimed at resolving the consequences of an old injury sustained during last year’s Indonesian Grand Prix, was planned in advance, but the timeline has shifted due to the crash in Le Mans. Combining both procedures will allow Márquez to begin his recovery all at once, but it also means a longer rehabilitation period.

Because of the upcoming recovery, Marc Márquez has officially been ruled out of his home Grand Prix in Catalonia, which will take place next week.

Reminder: Formula 1 legend calls for Max Verstappen’s disqualification.
