The football world is eagerly awaiting the verdict on Manchester City’s alleged Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches. Now, an expert has suggested what would be a fair punishment if the club is found guilty.

Details: Financial expert Kieran Maguire compared City's case to Everton and Nottingham Forest, both of whom were recently punished by the Premier League for financial rule violations. The potential consequences for City, however, could be far more severe.

Quote:

"If you look at the reports from the commissions that investigated Nottingham Forest and Everton when they were charged by the Premier League, they concluded that these were ‘minor breaches.’ These minor infractions resulted in a four-point deduction for Forest and a ten-point deduction for Everton, later reduced to six after appeal.

What Manchester City are accused of is essentially corporate fraud, which must be classified as a serious violation of the rules.

If they are guilty—and I must emphasize the word 'if'—the punishment will likely be far harsher than what Everton and Nottingham Forest received. It should be a points deduction—if they are found guilty. We are looking at a possible deduction in the range of 60 to 100 points," Maguire said on the Tear Us Apart podcast.

Reminder: Previously, Pep Guardiola indicated a timeframe for when a verdict in City's FFP case can be expected.
