Julian Nagelsmann has yet to lead the German national team to success at major tournaments.
Details: The 38-year-old took charge of the national side in the fall of 2023. Since then, Germany has featured in two major tournaments, but on both occasions, their campaign ended before the decisive stages.
At Euro 2024 on home soil, Germany topped Group A. They demolished Scotland 5-1, beat Hungary 2-0, and then drew 1-1 with Switzerland. In the round of 16, Nagelsmann's side overcame Denmark 2-0, but fell to Spain in extra time in the quarterfinals, losing 1-2.
At the 2026 World Cup, Germany again finished first in their group. The team thrashed Curaçao 7-1 and edged out Ivory Coast 2-1 before losing to Ecuador 1-2. However, in the round of 16, the Germans crashed out against Paraguay, falling in a penalty shootout.
After the exit, Nagelsmann stated that he does not intend to resign.
"I'm not resigning. If the DFB wants me to stay until 2028, I'll stay. If not - then I'll leave this project," said the head coach of the German national team.
