Experienced French defender Raphael Varane has agreed to join Como, who will be playing in Serie A next season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the parties have agreed on the terms of the contract, which has been approved, but it will take a few days to finalize the legalities. Following successful medical tests, Varane is expected to sign the agreement with the club.
It's noted that the key role in Varane's decision was played by Como's head coach, Cesc Fàbregas.
Currently, Varane is a free agent, with his last club being Manchester United, where he played for the past three seasons.
Varane's best years were spent at Real Madrid, where he won the Champions League four times and played a total of 360 matches for "Los Blancos."
Como will be playing in Serie A for the first time since the 2002-03 season. It was previously reported that the club is also looking to sign a legendary Spanish goalkeeper.
