Fabián Bustos has officially parted ways with Universitario de Deportes and is set to take over as the new head coach of Olimpia, according to D10. The Peruvian club confirmed the mutual termination of Bustos’ contract on Monday morning, just one day after his final match — a convincing victory over league leaders Melgar.
The Argentine manager is now just hours away from being formally introduced by Olimpia. His official debut is expected on Saturday, April 19, against Sportivo Luqueño, although he may be present at the club’s upcoming fixture against Atlético Tembetary on Wednesday, April 16.
Universitario thanked Bustos through an official statement, praising his leadership and professionalism during his short tenure. Since taking charge earlier this season, Bustos had kept the team competitive at the top end of the Peruvian table.
Olimpia, one of Paraguay’s most storied clubs, is turning to Bustos for his international experience and proven track record in South American football, having previously managed Barcelona SC and Santos. The club hopes his arrival will provide a crucial spark as they aim to regain form and challenge for the league title.
