FA charges Chelsea: what’s the issue?
Chelsea’s final match of 2024 ended in disappointment with a 0–2 loss to Ipswich Town at Portman Road. However, the troubles for the London club didn’t stop there.
Details: The Football Association of England has charged Chelsea with failing to ensure that its players conducted themselves appropriately during the match. The incident occurred in the 10th minute, and while the potential punishment remains unclear, Chelsea has until January 7 to respond to the charges.
Reminder: Chelsea players were outraged by referee John Brooks' decision to award Ipswich a penalty after VAR determined that goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen had fouled Liam Delap. Several Chelsea players surrounded Brooks in protest. Enzo Fernández and Levi Colwill were booked for dissent, and Fernández had to be restrained to prevent an altercation with Ipswich players.
