Liverpool's Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has spoken out for the first time regarding a lawsuit filed against him by his ex-girlfriend, reports the Mirror. This contentious situation dates back two years, shortly after the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.
Right after his triumph as a World Cup champion, Mac Allister faced a personal crisis. Just days after Argentina's victory, he split with his longtime partner, Camila Mayan, with whom he had been in a relationship for five years.
To complicate matters, Camila filed a lawsuit against the footballer, demanding financial compensation for their time spent living together abroad. She also accused Mac Allister of cheating on her with her best friend, Ailen Cova, who is now his current girlfriend.
After a prolonged silence, the midfielder has finally broken his silence on the matter.
"She took her path, I took mine, and that's it. As for the other thing (the lawsuit), everything is in court, where it should be, and we are waiting. I think it's normal in a relationship; she made the decision to come out and make public things that she felt or that she believes happened, but I know how things went and that's why I'm very calm,” Mac Allister stated.
In the current season, Mac Allister has made 17 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, scoring one goal.
