Everton buys Alcaraz and Flamengo will receive a million-dollar sum
England's Everton has decided to activate the purchase clause for Argentine midfielder Carlos “Charly” Alcaraz, who was on loan from Flamengo until June 2025.
Although he has not yet met the stipulated number of starting appearances in the contract, the English club chose to secure his continuity. As a result, Mengão will receive 18 million euros for the permanent transfer of the former Racing Club, Southampton, and Juventus player, reports TyC Sports.
The agreement stipulated the obligation to purchase if Alcaraz started in at least six matches, according to Coluna do Fla. So far, he has made three starts, but Everton was convinced by his performances and proceeded with the deal ahead of schedule.
Alcaraz played 19 matches during his brief stint at Flamengo, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Despite arriving with high expectations, given the significant sum paid for his transfer, he failed to secure a regular spot in the starting eleven and departed after just six months at the club.
The native of La Plata is only 22 years old and has already been part of the Argentina U-23 National Team, where he played two matches, and the senior team under Lionel Scaloni, where he has yet to make his debut.
