European team wants to invite Klopp for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Jürgen Klopp, even though he wants to take a break from coaching, has no shortage of potential employers who want to bring in a specialist. There are some of them at national team level as well.

According to BILD, the German national team plans to employ Klopp for the 2026 World Cup, but only if the current Bundestim coach Julian Nagelsmann leaves his post.

But, that's only possible if he leaves in the summer of 2025 at the earliest, as Klopp won't be able to start working for any team until then. This is part of his agreement with Liverpool, which is being terminated a year earlier at his request.

But the Bundestim can appoint an interim coach until Klopp is ready for the job. It is reported that it will be Sandro Wagner, who is now one of Nagelsmann's assistants.

Note that European qualification for the 2026 World Cup for the German national team can start either on 21-22 March or 4-6 September 2025. Everything will depend on the results of the Bundestim in the autumn Nations League.
