European heavyweights battle for Swedish prodigy as Bergvall attracts attention
Italian giants Napoli and Juventus, along with Barcelona, are planning to enter the race for 20-year-old Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall of Tottenham Hotspur.
Details: According to football insider Ekrem Konur, Napoli and Barcelona are preparing official offers for the talented Scandinavian midfielder ahead of the January transfer window. Juventus, meanwhile, are also keeping a close eye on the situation, although the Bianconeri hierarchy are only considering a loan deal without an obligation to complete a permanent transfer immediately.
Signing the midfielder in the middle of the season will be extremely difficult: Bergvall recently signed a new contract with the London club, which includes a fixed release clause only from the summer of 2027. Spurs have no intention of parting with the promising player on a permanent basis, so Barcelona and the Turin club hope to convince Tottenham's hierarchy to allow the Swede to leave on a six-month loan if his playing time in the English Premier League remains limited.
It is worth noting that the Brommapojkarna academy graduate moved to England from Djurgården in the summer of 2024, with Tottenham edging out Barcelona in a fiercely contested race for his signature. The technically gifted and versatile midfielder is regularly called up to the Sweden national team, while his football intelligence and vision make him one of the brightest rising stars in Scandinavian football.
Reminder: Set to leave the club in January: Manchester United star agrees to a move
