Euromatch NPFL: Finidi George Hails Rivers United Players After Victory Over Ikorodu City

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has praised his players after they continued their impressive start to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a 2-0 victory over Ikorodu City.

The win came in their Matchday Seven clash at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday, keeping Rivers United among the only two unbeaten teams in the NPFL alongside Kano Pillars.

Speaking after the match, Finidi expressed his satisfaction with the result and praised his players for their efforts.

“I’m quite happy with the victory. It was a very good game. We started early and put them under pressure to see how we could get goals,” Finidi said.

The former Super Eagles coach explained that his side were keen to add to their lead after going 1-0 up, knowing Ikorodu City could still fight their way back into the contest.

“We tried to get more goals in the second half, but it didn’t happen. I must commend my players; it is not easy,” he added.

Rivers United will now have a few days to recover before returning to action against Abia Warriors in their next NPFL fixture.
