Euromatch: Katsina United Coach Audu Mohammed Reacts to Shooting Stars Defeat

Katsina United head coach Azeez Audu Mohammed has described his side’s defeat to Shooting Stars as a setback but believes they can quickly move on from the result.

The hosts started strongly and went ahead in the 18th minute when Ridwan Olanrewaju found space in the Katsina United defence to put Shooting Stars 1-0 up. Katsina United couldn't break through to create clear opportunities as the Oluyole Warriors took their lead into the break.

Katsina United were left with an even bigger challenge in the second half after a red card in the 57th minute reduced them to 10 men. Shooting Stars capitalized on the advantage, and the substitute Qamar Adegoke put the game beyond the reach of the away team with the second goal.

Speaking after the match, Katsina United coach Azeez Audu Mohammed described the defeat as a setback for the season.

"I think they got an early goal and that destabilized us a little bit. I think that gave them an edge, along with the red card. We will go and caution the defender because he is not supposed to tackle that way, and that was just the turnaround, the early goal. I have to go watch the second goal again to see if it was really offside or not. But it is just a normal game; we lost, and we will go back to the plan again for our next home game.”

The team will now turn its focus to the next game against Doma United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on September 27.
