Escape plan ready! Julián Álvarez prepares his route out of Atlético
Julián Álvarez is reshaping his inner circle after a turbulent transfer summer in Madrid.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez has chosen Pablo Barquero as his new representative, with the agreement expected to be formalised soon. Barquero currently represents Barcelona midfielder Rodri and was the agent who handled the Spaniard's move from Manchester City to the Catalan club this summer.
Álvarez recently ended his professional relationship with Fernando Hidalgo, who had represented him for much of his career. Javier Pastore was among those interested in taking over, while Jorge Mendes' agency also explored the possibility, but Barquero ultimately made the strongest impression on both the player and his family.
The connection with Barcelona is particularly notable. Barquero already has strong ties to the Catalan club through Rodri, while Álvarez has long viewed Barcelona as his dream destination. The Argentine tried to leave Atlético for Barça during the summer transfer window, but the proposed move ultimately collapsed.
Mundo Deportivo reports that the handling of that failed transfer was one of the factors behind Álvarez's decision to change representatives. It is worth noting that the 26-year-old remains under contract with Atlético Madrid until June 2030, while Transfermarkt currently values the forward at €100 million.
Reminder: Bad news for Barcelona! Will Raphinha play in the next match?
