Ernst Middendorp touted as a possible replacement for Gavin Hunt at Kwa-Zulu Natal side Durban City

Ernst Middendorp is touted as a possible replacement for Gavin Hunt as Durban City coach.

The German gaffer is currently unattached and possibly open for a return to the team he left two months ago.

City chairman Farouk Kadodia is a known admirer of Middendorp and a return to his club’s dugout by the former Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows coach is not a far-fetched idea.

The departure of Hunt may have opened the opportunity for Middendorp’s return.

But on the flipside, it was rather surprising to see Hunt vacate his position given the healthy state the club in on the PSL standings.

City are eighth on the Betway Premiership standings with 19 points after 14 games.

For a team that is in its first season in the PSL after gaining promotion from the National First Division, this is a feat to proud of.

But Kadodia, it seems, is a hard man to please.

While he is hard to please, Middendorp may be thrilled at possibilities of returning to coaching.
