Ernest Nuamah Sparks Lyon’s Surge with Stunning Goal Against Nice!
At Olympique Lyonnais, Ernest Appiah Nuamah's endurance and patience are paying off. Although he hasn't always been a consistent starter, the youthful Ghanaian forward has made an indisputable impact since joining Ligue 1.
Match-Winning Performance Against Nice
Nuamah played a pivotal role in Lyon’s 2-0 away win over OGC Nice on Sunday at the Allianz Riviera. Introduced as a substitute in the 66th minute, the Black Stars winger left his mark, scoring a stunning long-range goal in the 83rd minute to seal the victory after Rayan Cherki had broken the deadlock in the 78th.
Reflecting on his goal, Nuamah said:
“I got the ball back, I took my time, then I saw the target and it went in. I think we were good, we had the ball but also lost it a lot. In the second half, we settled down and found the spaces.”
With his latest strike, Nuamah has extended his Ligue 1 tally to three goals and one assist in 20 appearances this season.
Growing Importance at Lyon
Lyon still relies on Nuamah to change the game, whether he starts or comes off the bench. He is a valuable member of the team because of his quickness, adaptability, and ability to score in key situations.
“We are happy, we play together, and there is good energy. Every match, I try to score and help the team. It is not always at the Groupama Stadium, but it is also important away from home.”
What’s Next for Lyon?
The win moves Lyon to 6th place with 42 points as they prepare for their Europa League clash against FCSB on Thursday before hosting Le Havre on Sunday.
