Borussia Dortmund suffered a defeat to Bologna in a UEFA Champions League match, which turned out to be Nuri Şahin’s last game as head coach. The club's management has decided to part ways with him.
Details: According to Florian Plettenberg, there were discussions and considerations about appointing Erik ten Hag as the new head coach. However, this will not happen. The financial package required is currently too expensive for Dortmund, as ten Hag remains under contract with Manchester United.
Previously, it was reported that Croatian manager Niko Kovač is the favorite for the vacant position. However, Dortmund’s management sees Kovač only as a temporary candidate until the end of the season. In the summer, the club plans to target Erik ten Hag, Sebastian Hoeneß, or Roger Schmidt for the role.
